Iraq's interior ministry temporarily barred Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indonesian, Filipino and Syrian workers from entering Iraq for work, with no end date. A February 2026 report still referred to the ban, with no sign it had been lifted.

Iraq's labour minister said in March 2024 that a Cabinet decision barred Bangladeshi workers from entering Iraq, although tens of thousands had come anyway, many without papers. He said entry should be limited to skilled workers and a few other cases.
