From July 2026 the UAE cancelled the residence visas of Bangladeshis who were outside the country without giving reasons, leaving many unable to return to their jobs and businesses. Dhaka put the number at 626 in July, saying other nationalities were also affected, and at about 4,800 by September, and sought a review.
